Brunhilde
Myth of the Day (Norse)
Brunhilde:
A mighty female warrior, one of the Valkyries, and a heroine from the German epics, especially in the Nibelungen saga, in which she is a Icelandic princess. She defied Odin and in punishment he imprisoned her within a ring of fire on earth, decreeing that there she would remain until a brave hero rescued her. Siegfied (Sigurd) braved the fire, broke her charmed sleep, and fell in love with her. He gave her the ring, Andvarinaut, unaware of its curse. Eventually she kills herself when she learns that Sigurd had betrayed her with another woman (Gudrun), not knowing he had been bewitched into doing so by Grimhild.

You know, people who accuse illegal immigrants of being deadbeats, welfare scams, whatever, usually ignore the fact that these are often people who risked death by dehydration, being shot at by border patrol agents and god knows what else because their situation back home was so bad as to be worth the risk. Not to mention sick bastards like this one.

waxing poetic
WAXING POETIC....
Forced to make an emergency run to the store for a particular item at four a.m. in spite of the fear of family members that I will be raped or killed if I wander about at odd hours. I am neither. I am, however, thwarted, it seems at every turn. The nearest grocery store is closed. My local 24 hour drugstore will not allow me to buy said item, even though it is in reach and within plain view, as they have roped off the area for floor waxing. I am forced to go to a nearby 24 hour grocery store. They have my item and something else I need and I briefly consider buying a bag of shrimp while I'm there, but when I wander toward that aisle I discover that the seafood area IS ROPED OFF FOR FLOOR WAXING! I had no idea that Tuesday 4am was universal waxing hour. You learn something new every day, I guess.
